The West Philly Hybrid X Team was recently interviewed by Jenna Bush Hager for a segment and live appearance on the Today Show on October 20. The appearance coincided with the announcement of the 43 teams that will continue to the next phase of the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize. About the Team
High school students from Philadelphia's inner city, the West Philly Hybrid X Team, are bringing their vision and energy to the GE Ecomagination competition a $200 million innovation experiment. The competition challenges businesses, entrepreneurs, innovators and students share their best ideas on how to build the next generation power grid.
Entrants can present ideas in three different areas: how to create renewable energy, how to connect to the grid efficiently and how to use energy wisely in order to create the smart and efficient power grid that America needs.
Our Team brings experience and the power of youth to this important new challenge. The West Philly Hybrid X Team has built and competed with electric and hybrid vehicles for the past 13 years including victories in the national Tour de Sol and an amazing journey in the international Progressive Automotive X PRIZE through the semi-finals.
