Turning 18

Hello! It's been a long time.  My internship with Penn Medicine keeps me very busy.  I no longer come to Tuesday meetings.  I am only able to make it on Saturdays.  I enjoy both programs so much I didn't want to give it up.
GOOD NEWS! I turned 18 two days ago!!  Happy Birthday to me! hahahaha It was a very nice birthday weekend.  I went out to dinner with my family and friends.  I am now allowed to play the lottery!
Today was a great and very productive Saturday.  Mayor Michael Nutter arrived this morning a little after nine o'clock.  We had four students speak after Ms. R opened.  Justin, Daniel, Azeem, and Michael did a really great job.  Afterwards, we showed Mayor Nutter around the shop.  He looked pretty excited and into it.
He told us that "you are doing something good for the city of Philadelphia.  You are making the city proud."  He also said that when we are about to go to Michigan that he would like to have a big "send off from City Hall."  We did many photos with him.  I was able to get an individual one! Ahhhhh
After Mayor Nutter left, our day was still crazy busy.  We had two major groups see us today.  Student volunteers from Drexel University brought in fifteen desktop computers for the school to use.  Penn student mentors met with the students to set up times for one-on-one tutoring with the students in their math subjects.  I will receive help for two hours every Saturday on Pre-Calc.
There is a lot going on right now with the team.  Keep checking in with us!

We go to school on Saturdays

Today is Saturday, and we have a meeting at school.  I got up late. Khaleda called me in the morning and told me to get my butt down here.  I was watched a movie last night so I sleep soooooooooooo late.  The movie was so good.  It’s called Pretty Woman.  My favorite part is at the end when Edward wanted Vivian come to New York with him, but Vivian didn’t want to become one of Edward’s girls so she said no.  The next day Edward showed up at her apartment and then they stayed together.  OMG!!  I love Richard Gere he is so great.

We met with Helen today. She works for Philadelphia Academy. She helped us to organize our meetings in a fun and effective way.  They want us to take more ownerships of the meeting.  Instead of Ann and Simon running them, we can run them.  At first, she let us introduce ourselves and use the first letter of our name to come up with an adjective. My name starts with the letter M, so I said "magnificent."  Then we played an icebreaker game. We have to ask each other a question and we can’t answer it.  I love that game even when I was kicked out at the third round.

She is a very nice person and beautiful.  We came up with few questions about what is important to building two cars. How is fun? What need to change? And why our school grades related to the team?  Jacques said: “dedication, determination, and discipline.”  Khaleda said: “great resume builder.”

I say: “to have more experience. Other people don’t have this great opportunity.”

At the end, Helen wanted us say what we liked about meeting and what we would change.  Mr. Hauger said: “people took all of his doughnuts.”  Most people said: “Not a lot of people showed up.”

And then there were 43

Hey! We are having a great time here in New York. I think everyone is getting a little tired. The fact that we were up at 5 in the morning isn't helping us right now.

I had an interview this morning with a Chinese television channel, and I spoke to one of the correspondents in Chinese! That was really cool, and the young woman was really nice who interviewed me.

After the interviews, we had a chance to look at the other cars in the space. They look weird but the colors are really nice. The ZAP Alias is a red electric car that almost looks like a motorcycle. It has only one wheel in the back and can only sit two people. The AMP'D Sky is so cool and the most stylish car in this space. Right now, people are looking at the battery and electric engine. It is also a two-seater. There is a car here called the "Tango." It is orange. The seats are back to back. They are not parallel. It is so tiny that I am not sure how tall people would be able to drive it. It also doesn't have that much trunk space. You would have to be a light packer. The Surge is like the ZAP. It looks like a motorcyle. It is lower to the ground, and it doesn't have any windows. Most of these cars can get over 100 mph and are all electric. According to Anita, George Clooney bought the Tango car. It costs about 115, 000. Crazy.

So. Our car is the only car that is a five-seater and that has trunk space. It is the only hybrid. Khaleda found out that we are not the only ones using a lithium iron phosphate battery. That surprises us.

Well for the rest of the day we are going to keep talking to the press. Simon wants to work on the car and I want to go shopping. Ms. R says that I can't go shopping. Wamp wamp.

We are going to check into the hotel soon and then get ready for dinner.

Keep in touch
