The EVX Team has embarked on a new electric adventure!
Taliya Carter, Team Captain identified an awesome new kit to build. It’s Bauer LTD’s very cool Catfish. It’s an American made kit that utilizes components from older Mazda Miatas. We’re coming to trick it out with an extremely powerful electric motor and a cutting-edge battery pack. We’ll keep you posted!
The EVX Team’s beautiful Factory Five 818 logged an astonishing 110 MPG at Watkins Glen in last year’s Green Grand Prix. It was a wonderful experience for the 18 team members who made the trip to upstate New York for the race.
We won’t make it to the Green Grand Prix this year, but we’re going to two other super events where our students will be showing off their work.
We are working very hard to the 818 ready for the car show. We have much to do and not a whole lot of time. The Philadelphia Auto Show, which is a benefit for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, opens with a Black Tie Affair on January 30. At our regular weekly meeting we created a check list of everything we have to do in the next 20 days. We'll let you know when we get each task completed. We've already set 3 additional meeting times to work on the car. Here's the list:
On June 17, 2014 EVX team members and teachers traveled to Washington, DC for the first ever White House Maker Faire. We had so much fun. The trip was amazing! We took the Factory Five 818 car that we built at school this year. It is an alternative fuel car that gets almost 100 miles per gallon. Our car was parked on the lawn of the White House right outside the Oval Office.
Students from the Workshop School will be at the first ever White House Maker Faire on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at 10:45 AM.
The Workshop School is a project based School District of Philadelphia public high school. The mission of the Workshop School is to unleash the creative and intellectual potential of young people to solve the world's toughest problems.
